Micro-Enterprise Development. Poverty leads to more poverty. Without starting capital, most of the poor do not have a way to boost themselves out of their impoverished state. Living years without financia resources effects the psychology and thought patterns of the poor, leading to a sense of hopelessness and destitution. Through baseline surveys, market surveys and needs assessments, we can determine appropriate income generating projects to encourage in the villages, which can be economically viable in the regional market. Through technical and business trainings, we can equip the participants to manage their projects well and become a more highly contributing member of their societies.  This program is especially targeted for pastors, discipleship leaders, and Celebrate Recovery champions. These members need to have a viable source of income for their families in order to be free to provide the spiritual encouragement and training for others.

Micro-Finance. Many people in the villages have ideas for income generation, but simply lack capital. When they get funds, the pressing needs of the moment often seem to require that they spend their money immediately. Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA) help villagers to invest a small amount of money each week or month, which can then be loaned to those members that need it, at interest. The interest then accumulates and is divided among the members at the end of the year. CLIDE provides starting capital for these groups, which is paid back to the organisation at the end of 1 or 2 years, so that other groups can then benefit. CLIDE emphasizes this VSLA approach to women's groups, discipleshihp groups and HIV support groups.
